Frequently Asked Questions
-
How much does a surrogate get paid?
Canadian Law does not allow for women to be compensated for being a surrogate, but she can be reimbursed for an array of expenses related to the pregnancy. Typically, we see reimbursements starting at a total of $20,000 – $30,000. During the pregnancy, we expect surrogates to be pampered by their Intended Parents.
Some reimbursable expenses can include:
- Internet bill & cell phone charges
- Mileage for driving to surrogacy related locations
- Maternity clothes, vitamins & supplements
- Housekeeping and snow removal
- Counselling expenses
- Wellness expenses such as gym membership, massage, chiropractic care, foot care, & yoga
- Hygiene products and pregnancy supports
- Lost wages
- Groceries

Do Tommy and Isrene need to use my egg?
No, Tommy and Isrene’s baby will not be biologically related to you. They have 6 PGT-A tested embryos!
It’s important to know the difference between Gestational Surrogacy and Traditional Surrogacy. With gestational surrogacy, you have no biological relation to the baby. The Intended Parents (Tommy and Isrene, in this case) have created embryos that are transferred into their surrogate’s womb.
Traditional surrogacy is when the surrogate uses their own eggs and they are biologically related to the child. For many reasons, we do not participate in traditional surrogacy through our programs.

Will surrogacy impact my job and or my lifestyle?
Surrogacy comes with the same risks of normal pregnancy. With a previous pregnancy history of no complications, it is unlikely that anything would change during a surrogacy pregnancy. But there are always risks no matter what. We try and make all women well aware of the implications of the choice they make. There is always a bedrest clause in your contract to ensure all lost wages, daycare for your kids, and any help to support your lifestyle would be taken care of financially by your Intended Parents. Bedrest is very rare. Most of our surrogates have carried full-term without any complications.
-
Are there any financial obligations for me as the surrogate?
No. Any pregnancy or surrogacy-related costs are reimbursed or paid directly by the intended parent(s).
